Environmental Education

New Enchantment has partnered with the Aurora Foundation and the Haiku Aina Permaculture Initiative to support dynamic programs that educate people about food forests, agroforestry techniques, and the importance of biodiversity in nature.

Haiku Aina Permaculture Initiative (HAPI) is located on the island of Maui, Hawaii in 14 acres of great beauty and biological diversity including 150 year old mango trees, and the vestiges of standing old growth forests. It is within this living system and with the support of local residents that HAPI is working to provide an educational center on the island modeling principles of applied permaculture, organic farming, and sustainable community development.

HAPI offers courses such as the "Regenerative Agriculture From the Ground Up: Successional Agroforestry and Soil Microbiology Course" in April 2012, and excursions such as the trip for the Hui Malama students in February 2012 to provide an understanding of permaculture methods of sustainable agriculture through hands-on learning.

Partnering with HAPI is one our strategic initiatives to further engage, re-enchant and educate people about nature. New Enchantment works with HAPI to promote its programs through our membership network and to develop further opportunities for engaged learning.

For questions or more information about the programs on HAPI, use our contact form to send an email.
